TERRITORIAL STATUS
The Commonwealth of Jeffersonia
is a non-territorial micronation (sorry, no beaches). After proper
recognition by other states, her status will be comparable to the situation
of the Sovereign
Military Order of Malta, i.e. a non-territorial entity with functional
sovereignty and subject of international law. Her "territorial imperium"
will be limited to embassies established in other nations granting formal
diplomatic recognition to the government of the Commonwealth of Jeffersonia.
Other examples of non-territorial sovereignties include the Tibetan
government-in-exile and (at certain times in history) the Holy
See (Vatican).
The Commonwealth of Jeffersonia
does not claim any territory or part thereof claimed or administered by
other nations and therefore has no transnational disputes.
When asked "where is the
Commonwealth of Jeffersonia located?", one might answer, "On the Internet,
as a non-territorial (virtual) micronation." |
